Waste management for residential property

The law obliges municipalities to organise waste management within their areas. According to the Waste Act, all residential property, including leisure time property, must be part of the municipal waste management system.

Within the area covered by the municipal waste company Kiertokapula Oy, Hausjärvi, Hyvinkää, Järvenpää, Mäntsälä, Riihimäki, Tuusula and Valkeakoski have agreed on the transportation of waste to Kiertokapula. Kiertokapula will also manage the waste management customer service for these municipalities.

The waste sorting obligation applies to all residential properties. Each property must have a collection bin for at least mixed/dry waste. Other usable fractions on small properties, such as paper, board, glass and metal should be delivered to collection points. Larger properties should have their own collection bins for recoverable waste.

The composting of bio-waste and garden waste on properties is both permitted and recommended. However, the burning of waste is prohibited. Among other solid fuels, only untreated, pure wood waste and, in small quantities, clean and dry paper, cardboard and board may be burned when heating a property.

You can order the emptying of waste bins from our customer service. We will also be delighted to answer your questions on waste management.
